Synopsis
Amer (literally meaning ‘bitter’) focuses on three key sensual moments in Ana’s life set against the oppressive backdrop ofthe imposing family home. A sense of unease slowly builds to an erotic and shocking finale where the line between reality and Ana’s fantasies becomes blurred. Directors Cattet and Forzani have created a wonderful homage to 70s Italian giallo films. The attention to detail lavished on every element of the film, from the poster artwork through to the use of sound and music, results in one of the most original, visionary and emotional genre films of the decade.
